Morocco signs a strategic partnership in India

A memorandum of understanding has been signed between the Société Marocaine de l’Ingénierie Touristique – SMIT-, represented by its General Manager Mr Imad Barrakad, and its Indian counterpart « India Tourism Development Corporation » – ITDC-, represented by Kaur RAVNEET Chairman and Managing Director.
This memorandum aims to establish a strategic partnership that meets the needs of both parties, whereby the two organizations exchange expertise in the fields of engineering and tourism investment promotion.
This cooperation aims to further pool the efforts of the two entities to achieve the objectives of government policies for the development of a sustainable and integrated tourism product for the benefit of human development in both Morocco and India. This signature will strengthen the exchange of expertise and know-how to improve the attractiveness of the two tourist destinations. Also, the strengthening of the promotion of investment opportunities among international operators, able to guarantee the development of new projects that generate jobs and generate added value.
Playing a leading role in the development, engineering and promotion of tourism in India, and with extensive experience in the hotel industry for over 35 years, India Tourism Development Corporation – ITDC- has a diverse network in the tourism industry consisting of luxury hotel groups, renowned gourmet restaurants, meeting the diverse needs of Indian investors and tourists.
« Our strategic alliance with SMIT, leader in tourism engineering, will allow us to benefit from its proven expertise in the various fields related to the development of the tourism product, its know-how to learn about the latest trends related to the theme of tourism engineering and to share new concepts of innovative tourism products, » says Ms Kaur RAVNEET, Chairman and Managing Director of ITDC.
On his part, Mr. Imad Barrakad, said that Indian investors play a major role in Africa and Morocco. He also pointed out that the virtuous dynamic affecting the Moroccan tourism market offers many investment opportunities, hence the interest of several investors and prestigious Indian hotel chains such as « Taj Hotel Group », « Tata Corporation » and many others, who are seeking to strengthen their presence in the Kingdom.
This signature is part of the official visit, chaired by Mr Mohamed Sajid, Minister of Tourism, Air Transport, Handicrafts and Social Economy, which took place in New Delhi, from 15 to 19 September 2018, with a view to strengthening bilateral cooperation between the Kingdom of Morocco and the Republic of India in the tourism, air transport and solidarity economy sector.
It should be recalled that the common desire to strengthen diplomatic relations between Morocco and India was expressed during the last visit of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist him, to India in October 2015. This Visit provided a new impetus to bilateral cooperation relations, as evidenced by the signing of this « win-win » partnership.
This signature is also perfectly in line with the High Royal Guidelines of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God glorify him, which aims to act as a catalyst to stimulate foreign investment and help create jobs in Morocco.
