Radisson hotels will remain in Chinese hands

The current owners of the Radisson chain had changed their name to keep only the best-known brand. Previously, it was the Carlson Rezidor chain owned by the Carlson family as Carlson WLT. The Chinese group HNA had acquired it. But today who owns the Radisson hotels today?
HNA Tourism Group, part of the HNA group, purchased Carlson Hotels Inc. of the United States in 2016 for an undisclosed amount. Carlson Hotels owned the hotel brands Radisson, Park Plaza, Country Inns & Suites. A few months ago, HNA decided to name the channel Radisson.
HNA’s colossal debt remains a problem
HNA has several businesses, including hotels and aviation. They sold 25.2% of the capital they held in NH Hoteles. It is the company Minor International in Thailand, which owns about forty hotels in the world, including the Anantara group.
The amount of the sale would be 619 million euros. Hyatt wanted to invest in this chain but the American group arrived too late.
HNA is reselling another stake
At the beginning of the year, HNA sold its 25% interest in Hilton and its subsidiaries for over $2.5 billion. It was therefore logical that the Chinese group should also sell the Radisson channel.
Who picks up Radisson ?
There were certainly many contenders for the takeover of the American channel. But Jing Jiang, also a Chinese company, was the first to make a proposal around 2 billion dollars.
Jin Jiang currently owns 12.3% of Accor and owns the French chain Groupe du Louvre.
Earlier this year, it bought the Indian chain Sarovar Hotels. In 2016, Jin Jiang acquired a majority stake in the Chinese budget hotel chain 7 Days Group Holdings.
This latest acquisition would make Jin Jiang the seventh largest hotel company in the world, with 344,000 rooms.
Consolidations through the acquisition of hotel chains have been observed for several months. AccorHotels is one of the major players, just like Hyatt or Marriott.
