The Gallier Hall will be restored
As part of the Tercentennial Program, New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu has proposed the restoration and preservation of the historic building, Gallier Hall. Built between 1845 and 1853, it served as town hall until 1956. It has paintings by the neo-Orleanese artist Georges Dureau, as well as a large number of authentic period frames, mirrors, clocks and chandeliers.
The renovations will give a new lease of life to the interior of the building as well as to the Ty Tracy Theatre, while allowing for the installation of an audio-visual system equal to the building’s works of art.
