The 41st edition of the famous Art Deco weekend in Miami returns this year from January 18 to 20 on Ocean Drive, with a series of first-class events.
Designed by the Miami Design Preservation League to attract more people to Miami Beach at a time when tourism was low and preserving Art Deco history was not a priority, this three-day community cultural festival of art, architecture, history, culture and entertainment is now among the city’s most popular annual events.
The 2019 Art Deco Weekend will bring together, as in previous years, more than 85 different events (most of them free) throughout the weekend, including favourites, street fair, retro fashion shows, classic cars, jazz shows, outdoor film series, the adorable Bark Deco dog show.
In addition, guests can visit Linde Art Deco Dance, listen to live music, attend street shows, go shopping or visit the MDPL (Miami Design Preservation League) preservation tents to learn more about historical preservation efforts in South Florida.
And for the undecided, 14 tours are organized: divided into three categories – architecture, people & culture, and cocktails – they cover all areas of Art Deco.
All along Ocean Drive, there are plenty of trendy cafés, bars and restaurants for hungry visitors. In addition to this, from 6th Street to 14th Street, Art Deco Weekend will offer a host of stands and food carts, specialized food court areas with classic festival dishes, high-end cuisine, artisanal dishes, healthy dishes, etc.
