Marriott International will open two properties in Japan under its City Express brand, continuing the global expansion of this midscale brand acquired in 2022.
According to Marriott, developer Pacifica Hotels GK will convert two existing properties in Osaka into City Express hotels, with a planned reopening in 2026.
This initiative marks the Asia-Pacific debut of the brand, which Marriott acquired from Hoteles City Express for $100 million in 2022.
Since then, Marriott has expanded the brand into the United States, opening a property in Duluth, Georgia, earlier this year.
“These openings demonstrate Marriott’s continued commitment to expanding its portfolio of midscale hotels in Japan and across the Asia-Pacific region [excluding China],” Marriott said in a statement.
