Argentina closes all flights

The Argentinean government has indicated that the only possible flights up to this date are now cargo flights for the transport of material for the fight against the coronavirus and for the repatriation of Argentines stranded around the world.

This obviously amounts to blocking all flights to and from the country until that date, despite the fact that some activities within the country have been relaxed in recent days.

Argentina, with far fewer cases than Spain, implemented its containment policy on March 20, one week after Spain. At present, isolation is planned there until 10 May. It should be remembered that Argentina has changed its season compared to Europe and is preparing not to spend in summer but in winter.

The Argentinean Civil Aviation Agency has stated that « it is more reasonable to set 1 September 2020 as the date for resumption of regular air operations. Until then, only non-scheduled flights will be allowed ».
