Return flights from Thailand: where do we stand ?

The situation regarding return flights from Thailand on Thursday, March 5, 2026, is marked by significant disruption due to the conflict in the Middle East, but alternative solutions are being implemented. If you are currently stranded or planning your return, here is the current situation:

Flights with a layover in the Middle East (Dubai, Doha, Abu Dhabi)

This is the most critical sector. Gulf hubs are operating at reduced capacity or are still partially closed.

Emirates & Etihad: Very partial resumption of service since March 3. Many flights remain canceled or are experiencing massive delays.

Qatar Airways: The situation is the most difficult. The airline has suspended almost all of its flights to Doha until further notice, pending a safe reopening of airspace.

Advice: Do not go to Bangkok (BKK) or Phuket (HKT) airport without firm confirmation from your airline.

Direct flights (Air France, Thai Airways)

These flights are still operating but are subject to significant adjustments.

To avoid conflict zones, planes are now bypassing Iran and Iraq via the north (Turkey/Caucasus) or the south (Egypt/Africa).

Expect an additional 1.5 to 3 hours of flight time for a Bangkok-Paris flight. This is causing cascading delays to crew rotations.

Emergency Measures in Thailand

The Thai government has taken exceptional measures for stranded tourists:

Overstay fines are being temporarily suspended for travelers whose flights were canceled due to the crisis.
