GNV welcomes its new GNV Altair vessel

GNV (Gran Navi Veloce) announced yesterday a new step in strengthening its fleet which, with the arrival of the GNV Altair, now numbers 27 units. The unit will be operational from February 21st and will be used in the Algerian market, specifically on the Sète-Bejaïa and Sète-Algiers routes, with two weekly round trips, one to Bejaïa and one to Algiers, thus contributing to strengthening GNV’s presence in a strategic and constantly evolving market.

“We continue to invest to strengthen our presence in key markets and support evolving demand, with the aim of offering increasingly efficient connections on routes that are strategic for us.”

Built in 2002 and previously in service with the Moby Group fleet, the GNV Altair is distinguished by its large transport capacity and remarkable operational performance, guaranteeing a maximum speed of 24 knots.

The vessel is 214 meters long and 26 meters wide, with a gross tonnage of 35,736 tons.

Designed to transport both passengers and cargo, the GNV Altair features 319 cabins and can accommodate up to 2,700 passengers, while offering a cargo capacity of 915 linear meters.

The onboard spaces are designed to ensure comfort and quality of travel, even on medium and long-distance voyages, thanks to a wide range of services including restaurants, bars and self-service cafes, common areas, entertainment, a cinema, and dedicated spaces for families and children, all in full compliance with the Company’s standards.

Prior to entering service, the GNV Altair will undergo specific refurbishment work to align the vessel with GNV’s quality and operational standards, with a particular focus on enhancing the passenger travel experience and overall vessel efficiency.
