Egyptair strengthens its Dreamliner B787-9 fleet


Still with the objective of developing and expanding internationally, the airline received its fifth B787-9 aircraft on July 24. This acquisition allows Egyptair to consolidate its leading role in the region with a modern fleet and the best aircraft.

In addition to the expansion of its routes, Egyptair continues to strengthen its fleet of Boeing Dreamliner 787-9. Indeed, the company received this Wednesday, July 24th its fifth aircraft and should receive a sixth one by the end of the year 2019. The design of the 787 Dreamliner has been optimized to reduce fuel consumption and pollutant emissions by 20 to 25% compared to the aircraft it replaces.

Egyptair also supplied its most recent Boeing 787 Dreamliner with biofuel on its return flight after delivery. The 10,973 km journey between
Seattle and Cairo represents the longest delivery flight using the SAF1.

The biofuels used were manufactured by World Energy in a refinery from California, and are designed from agricultural waste certified for use in
commercial.

Since its launch in 2011, the Dreamliner family of devices has enabled save 37 billion pounds of fuel, which is equivalent to taking 10 million cars on the road in one year.
Back in Cairo, Egyptair became the first carrier to use a new Boeing program offering operators the possibility of supplying power to the delivery flights with biofuel.
