Rakel GriÍmsdÓttir works for Icelandair as a flight attendant and is studying to become a pilot for the company. Today she gives us her advice to be impeccable at the end of a long-haul flight. Combining Icelandic lifestyle with the everyday life of flight attendants, perfect for holiday preparation
as it should be !
In flight, how to prepare your skin for a long-haul flight ?
The night before a long flight, I apply a mask Origins brand moisturizer. If I don’t have one at hand, my moisturizing cream -Eygló de la mark Sol- applied in thick layer will make the case. A little tip: before you leave, put your eye contour gel and a repairing cream with fridge. It will be a real pleasure to meet them at the back, I guarantee it!
What is your makeup every day to go to work ?
I first apply Sensai’s light base on the face and eye contour, it gives me healthy glow while remaining natural. I’ve been trying several foundations seeking to unearth the one which has the best hold, I now use ink of skin » All Hours Foundation » by Yves Saint Laurent.
Then Benefits Cosmetics Hoola bronzing powder or Milk Makeup tanning creams to give a little colour to my face…
For my eyebrows, first a Seinsai brand pencil, then a Gemey Maybelline eyebrow gel. Then I pass to the eyes with the « lingerie » eye shadow of the LYX brand that I associate with a small palette of Huba Beauty.
I end with a Helena Rubenstein or Estée Lauder mascara. Air hostess tip to stay impeccable: I finish my beauty routine by applying a fixing spray, like MAC’s Fix + or Urban Decay’s All Nighter.
Do you have a trick against the « heavy legs » effect ?
At the risk of disappointing you… Nothing more than endless tricks: eat less salt the few days before departure and try to raise his legs to the maximum during the flight. The compression stockings of course, remain impossible to circumvent.
